She knew that time was precious, said Mary Willihnganz, Catherine Cashores sister. She knew she had one year left, and she did what she loved.
For Catherine, doing what she loved so often meant music, and Toronto Opera Repertoire was one of many organizations who counted on her year after year for energy, commitment, good humour, and smiles. With TOR, she loved the whole process of getting ready for a show, taking over a basement junk room so she could revel in the business of putting on make-up and getting her costume just so. For years, she ran the TOR Raffle because she knew full well that every cent counted in this volunteer-run organization. That thought was clearly with her in her final months a generous bequest from Catherines estate is helping to make it possible for TOR to continue with its Supertitles program. The librarian in her would love to know that, thanks to her generosity, our audiences will understand and love opera at a whole new level. We miss her.
