Foolin around: Curtains down and the swords are up Michael Sugrue (left) and board member Chris Lea contest masculinities between acts of Lucia di Lammermoor.

Long-time chorus member Cheryl Martin assesses the merits of a chapeau shaped like a loaf of bread (hey, it has pearls!), while make-up assistant and chorister George Seppenwoolde smiles benignly.

Man of many hats: tenor William Parker had solo roles in both Don Giovanni and Lucia, sang in the chorus, and did solo work in the opera excerpts. Here he is, momentarily still.

Jennifer Ujimoto and Igor Bily, on the other hand, get ready for action heading upstairs to dance in Lucia.
