Zerlina (Anna Bateman) though all too willing to give in when Giovanni proposes marriage and points to his castle on the hill is saved by a timely warning from Elvira (Ren Kennedy).

And matters get worse for Don Giovanni when Donna Anna (Angela Di Serio) recognizes his voice as that of the man who murdered her father, and tells all to Don Ottavio (Michael Sugrue).

He commits himself to her service and protection.

His resolve is to be tested that evening, during a feast at Don Giovannis palace. Giovanni has invited the peasants, Zerlina, Masetto, and three masked strangers (who turn out to be notorious party crashers Ottavio, Anna and Elvira). During the dance, Giovanni zeros in on Zerlina...

...while Leporello (Gerald Hannon, right) prevents Masetto (Amos Clark) from going to her aid.

Zerlinas off-stage screams alert the party-goers that the Don is up to his old tricks. He tries to put the blame on Leporello but no one is fooled, and only Don Giovannis drawn sword saves him and Leporello from the wrath of Don Ottavio.
