In his fifth season with TOR this year, Frank de Jong will interpret Raimondo in Lucia and the Commendatore in Don Giovanni. Frank is grumpy that, as a bass, he never gets to fall in love on stage or die in the arms of a beautiful soprano. Operatic basses, usually cast as patriarchs, priests, fathers, doctors, kings, are invariably more interested in power than in love. Sigh. Frank is a Toronto District School Board teacher and the leader of the Green Party of Ontario.
